How Do You Start An Online Business

The internet is buzzing with all kinds way a that you can make money online. So how do you decide which one is for you?  With so many choices how do you know what to choose? I plan to tell you some of the pros and cons that I have found out along the way.

The only way to make money from home is to sell something online.

A lot of people when they start out blogging don’t realize that you have to eventually have to sell something- either a product or service. You can either create and sell your own products or services, or sign up as an affiliate for someone else’s product/ service and earn a commission for each sale.

You can offer your services through your own website. The advantage of this is that you can showcase your own portfolio. You will also have complete control over the payments made to you and you won’t have to fork over a commission fee. This approach will take time to develop.

You will need your own website if you would like to consult or provide online coaching services.  The great thing about consulting is that it does not have to be restricted to business topics alone. You can offer to coach someone on just about anything you are confident and experienced in, like blogging, parenting, marketing or life coaching.

You will have to first identify what kind of services you are capable of providing.

Now, what if you don’t have the knowledge or experience to create a product, or offer a service?  Here is the other option for you sell other peoples products and services. You basically become a salesperson, promoting/selling other products, services or websites. This has great money making potential when done right. But you will need a decent amount of traffic flowing into your blog or website. The more traffic you have the more money you are likely going to make.

Another option is to set up a hosted online store. There are a lot of websites that allow you to create your own store and link it to a custom domain name. The advantage is that you don’t have to spend time setting it up.
